The Sentinel is the second mini-boss in the Overworld, following on from the Elder Guardian. It drops a precious reward on death, that being the Lightning Core, which is used in some crafting recipes.

Behavior
When a player enters the vicinity of the Sentinel Arena, it will initiate the battle. This includes a start up animation, sound cues, a boss bar appearing, and a thunder storm starting.
Mining fatigue is applied to the player to prevent them from accessing the treasure rooms before the fight is completed.
The Sentinel cannot move, but can rotate its upper body. With the weakest point being the head, the rest of its body is immune to all damage sources. Projectile sources of damage provide a higher damage against the Sentinel, while melee sources provide less.
Phases
Boss phases change as it is dealt damage, it starts out in the first phase, and then progresses into the second phase (You can see this happen when lightning strikes it). Once the Sentinel is defeated you will be able to access the treasure room in the Sentinel Arena, as the Mining Fatigue effect will be removed.
