You can encounter two different colored Ostrich in the Overworld. Along with a rare chance of a Skeleton riding an Ostrich.

Behavior

If hostile mobs are nearby, the Ostrich will bury their head below the ground, making them unable to be targeted by hostile mobs.
Ostriches will passively lay large Ostrich Eggs, these are placed similarly to Turtle Eggs.

Spawning

Ostriches spawn in herds of three to five, and can be found in these biomes:
  • Desert
  • Desert Hills
  • Desert Mutated
  • Savanna
  • Savanna Plateau
  • Savanna Mutated
  • Savanna Plateau Mutated

    Drops

    Death:
  • 1-3 Feathers

    • Breeding

    Two adult Ostriches can be bred with Fruit or Acacia Leaves.

    Taming

  • Repeatedly mounting, until able to equip Saddle
  • Feed fruit to lower temper
    • The in-game model of a saddled Ostrich
